Helping Survivors of Violence and Trafficking

In October, the Violence Against Women (VAW) Team at CCS partnered with Aura Freedom International to host a full-day capacity-building workshop for frontline service providers. The session focused on enhancing skills to better support survivors and individuals at risk of sex trafficking and gender-based violence (GBV).

The workshop covered:

  • How trauma affects people, including cultural and family history.
  • Trauma-Informed Care – understanding how past experiences can affect someone, and helping them with kindness, safety, and respect.
  • Burnout and stress for workers, with tips for self-care and staying strong.

Frontline workers from multiple partner agencies came together to share experiences and strategies.. They learned practical tools to recognize signs of abuse or trafficking, communicate with care, and offer support that respects each person’s culture and background. The workshop also showed how to connect survivors with safe housing, legal help, and other important services, so they can start rebuilding their lives with dignity and confidence.

By working together, we are building safer, stronger communities. Survivors receive the help and understanding they need, and frontline workers gain the skills and support to stay strong while caring for others. Every workshop like this brings us closer to a community where everyone can feel safe, respected, and supported.
