Building Caring Communities: Workshops on Trauma and Healing for Service Providers and Families
The HEAL Network, in partnership with CCS, recently hosted two impactful initiatives to help our community better understand trauma and how to support people who have experienced it. These workshops emphasized compassion, understanding, and empowerment in supporting both families and professionals who work with individuals affected by trauma.
The Trauma-Informed Systems of Care workshops helped staff and community partners learn what trauma is, how it can affect people’s lives, and how to create safer and more caring spaces for everyone. Participants also learned how to take care of themselves, manage stress, and prevent burnout when working with people in crisis.
The Trauma-Informed Parenting Approaches series supported Spanish-speaking parents and caregivers. These sessions helped parents understand how trauma can affect children’s emotions and behaviour. Families learned gentle ways to communicate, build trust, and create a sense of safety and love at home.
Both workshops provided a warm and welcoming space for people to share experiences, learn from each other, and grow stronger together. Through these initiatives, CCS and the HEAL Network are helping to build a community based on healing, understanding, and compassion.
